Carlos A. Schuler
Vice President, CMC

Carlos A. Schuler, Ph.D., is currently vice president of chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) at Anesiva. Dr. Schuler joined Anesiva in February of 2008 as senior director of engineering. Prior to Anesiva, Dr. Schuler served in several technical and managerial capacities at Nektar Therapeutics (formerly Inhale Therapeutic Systems). From 2002 to 2008, Dr. Schuler held the roles of senior director of technology, senior director of research, head of business transformation, senior director of process and product development. Prior to joining Nektar, Dr. Schuler worked in research and development projects funded by NASA, the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Department of Energy, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as part of the scientific staff of Aeromerics, Inc from 1991 to 1997. Dr Schuler received a PhD. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, where he also was a post-doctoral fellow working on integrated computational/experimental methodologies in heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
